Dota 2 Asian Championship 2018 Preview

The Perfect World DAC tournament is one of the most popular tournaments of the year in Asia and the world.

The first season of the DAC took place in January 2015 with a prize pool of $250,000. In the grand finals of the best-of-five series, it was Evil Geniuses that took down Vici Gaming with a clean sweep score. In the same event, we got to see an emerging talent for Evil Geniuses, Syed Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan, who is now playing as offlaner in the team.

The second season of DAC took place in March 2017 with a total prize pool of $612,000. A total of 12 teams participated in the team in which Xu "Burning" Zhilei's team, Invictus Gaming dominated the stage and clean swept OG in the best-of-five grand finals.

Organizers from Perfect World, China for The DAC 2018 announced the tournament's prize money of $ 1,000,000 and DCP 1500. 16 teams are set to fight for the title of DAC 2018 champion at Shanghai in the spring of 2018. Six teams were invited directly and 10 teams qualified for the LAN Finals.

Here are the teams that will be competing at DAC 2018:

Invited teams: iG, Newbee, Team Liquid, VG, VP, Team Secret.

Qualification Teams: Mineski, TNC, KG, LGD Gaming, VGJ.T, OG, Effect, EG, OpTic Gaming, paiN Gaming.

DAC, like in previous seasons, openly prefers Chinese centered tournament. Where, immediately three teams from China received invitations to the tournament, including IG as the winner of DAC 2017. For this, three slots for the Chinese qualifiers were added at once. So, 6 of the 16 teams in the championship will represent the home region. Well, someone will definitely step on the scene of the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center, which will host the competition this year.

Last season, DAC even had its own "compendium". True, not inside the game, but only on the official website. However, the audience gladly voted for the participants of the show match and chose the favorites of the public. This year, the organizers are again working hard with the official site of the championship. We are waiting for something epic and beautiful to happen at one the most popular tournaments in the competitive world of Dota 2.

Virtus.Pro the first team invited to TI8?

It's important to note that 39% of all DPC points have already been distributed. So, based on the recent standing and points distribution, a team has to cross 6062 DPCs in order to guarantee a direct invite to TI8. So, after simple calculations, Virtus.Pro with 4,947 points is only 1115 points away from the getting the invite. The Russian organization will surely be motivated to get their hand on the DAC title and the 1500 points that come with it. The team knows how to come out on top as the side was recently victorious at the ESL Katowice. Outside Europe, Team Liquid and Team Secret are the closest to clinching the invited spots.
