4 x 400 metres relay mixed World Championships
Who wins 4 x 400 metres relay mixed at the World Athletics Championships 2019?
Kenya among the Mixed teams qualified for the 2019 World Championships
Kenya got its ticket to the World Championship due to be held in Doha in September this year, after it clocked 3:19:43 and won the bronze in 2019 Yokohama.
The team members of the Kenyan 4X400 mixed relay team are Jared Momanyi (captain), Hellen Syombua, Maureen Thomas and Aron Koech.
They came ahead of big-shots like Poland, Germany, Italy and Brazil. Although they did fall behind the champions USA and Canada.
A statement from IAAF said that, after the action in 2019 Yokohama came to an end, the list of the teams that would participate in the World championship started to take shape.
The statement further said that there are only two main purposes of World Relays, one of which is to offer enthralling and exiting action to the audience and another is to serve as a gateway into the major championships.
Twelve out of sixteen spots in the mixed 4x400m in the 2019 World Championships were up for grabs in this year's IAAF World Relays, along with ten out of sixteen available spots in both categories (m & w) 4x100m and 4x400m.
The remaining spots will be filled by the top teams on the world lists at the end of the qualifying period on September 6 of this year.
Other qualified mixed teams are Poland, USA, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Jamaica, Italy, France, Belgium, and Great Britain & Northern Ireland.
Kenya will be going strong into the World Championship due to be held in September this year with bigger and better teams, and will look for big prizes in individual competitions in both track and field events.
Kenya hauled 11 medals back in 2017 World Championships in Athletics, it included 5 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze to finish 2nd behind US.
