Dortmund next manager after Marco Rose
Who is Dortmund’s manager?
Born in Leipzig, Marco Rose played in his youth for the former GDR club Rotation 1950 Leipzig. After further positions with the 1st FC Lokomotive Leipzig and the VfB Leipzig, he was appointed to the professional squad by the latter and played 57 games here in five years. A two-year stay at Hannover 96 was followed by nine years at the 1st FSV Mainz 05, whereby in the last contract year he was only used in the second team. Rose hung up his soccer shoes here and switched from the defender to the training bench.
At first he worked as an assistant coach at the 1st FSV Mainz 05 II, but two years later he was hired as coach of his ex-club Lokomotive Leipzig. The subsequent move to Austria initially led to the youth of FC Red Bull Salzburg. Here he trained the U16 as well as the U18, before he took over the first team of the Austrian top club for two years.
Both years he became champion with Salzburg and crowned his last season with the victory of the ÖFB-Cup 2019. The premature end in Austria was caused by an offer from Germany. The Leipzig player, who set the Austrian record of 2.34 points per game with RB Salzburg, received an offer from Borussia Mönchengladbach. The foals got the Austrian trainer of the year 2019, who is considered a great motivator, as successor of Dieter Hecking.
On 15 February 2021, Mönchengladbach announced that Rose would leave at the end of the season to join Borussia Dortmund.
