Dortmund next manager after Lucien Favre
Lucien Favre - A Swiss wants to become German Champion
Former Swiss international Lucien Favre spent most of his time as an active footballer in Switzerland. Only for the 1983/84 season did he play briefly in France for FC Toulouse. The highlights of his career in Switzerland were his election as Swiss Footballer of the Year in 1983 and winning the championship with Servette FC. Here he played from 1984 to 1991 before ending his career as a player and becoming a coach.
In Switzerland, Favre trained various teams, including his former and long-time club Servette FC. FC Zurich won the Swiss championship in 2007, which is why he was voted "Coach of the Year". He had already been awarded this title in the previous year and was also to receive it in Germany the following year. Here he trained the Hertha BSC team after his time with FC Zurich. The first two years went well for the Swiss at the Berlin soccer club. In his third year, however, he was initially released due to too many defeats in September 2009 and then dismissed without notice because he had made a negative statement about the club management during an interview.
After his subsequent positions at Borussia Mönchengladbach and the OGC Nizza, Favre was signed as coach at Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2018. On the last day of his first season as coach of Borussia, the team just missed out on the championship, before Favre and his team beat Bayern Munich 2-0 in the DFL Supercup a few months later.
