DreamLeague Season 12 to Open in the Netherlands

Established with the goal of becoming the most prestigious DOTA 2 league focused on North America and Europe, the CORSAIR DreamLeague has acted as a proving ground for a number of legendary players in DOTA eSports.

Helmed by Dreamhack, DreamLeague takes a novel approach to organization in that both the league organizer and constituent teams have a stake in the organization. They also work together to promote and raise awareness for the ASUS ROG DreamLeague. Beyond that, the league provides teams with support in terms of logistics, performance analysis, and even bonus incentives for exception performance in generating revenue.

It’s hard to believe another season of DreamLeague is almost upon us but it is that time of the year again. And with a pot of some $250,000, Season 12 is expected to be one of the biggest yet for the 2019-2020 DOTA Pro Circuit. Taking place in Rotterdam, the location for the DreamLeague Season 12 is the Rotterdam Ahoy from October 18 until October 20. Sponsored by CORSAIR, Esport-Management.com, and Monster Energy, Season 12 is the second time the competition will be held outside of Sweden. It will also be taking place during Rotterdam’s first-ever Rotterdam Games Week.

DreamHack co-CEO Marcus Lindmark said in a press release, “It’s exciting to follow up last season’s grand event in Stockholm with shipping the DreamLeague experience to a new country...DreamHack Rotterdam will serve as the perfect setting for CORSAIR DreamLeague Season 12 with thousands of esports and gaming fans gathering at the Rotterdam Ahoy for the three-day festival.”

Part of the reason for bringing the tournament to another venue was the possibility of expanding the fan base for the sport. After all, there’s no better way to bring in new people than during the city’s games-focused week.

The Chief Executive Officer for Rotterdam Ahoy, Jolanda Jansen, said of the event, “We are very excited to host the 12th season of the Dota 2 tournament in Rotterdam Ahoy. It is the first time that such a major Dota tournament is coming to the Benelux. It fits our ambition to become the number one esports and gaming festival in our country. It will surely attract additional fans, the league is a great expansion for our event for which we earlier announced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Tournament.”

As one of the longest running DOTA leagues in the world, the results of DreamLeague Season 12 will be closely watched by other players from around the world.

Vici Gaming will be defending its title from any and all newcomers in a tournament of 16 teams, 8 from the league, and 8 invited to participate, as they compete in a single-elimination contest with first matches on Bo1 and subsequent matches on Bo3.

In addition to DOTA, there will be a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament with a total pot of $100,000. One this is certain, eSports fans will have a lot to look forward to this fall when DreamLeague season 12 officially gets underway.
