La Liga: Next Manager To Leave 2018/2019
As it is every season in Spain La Liga the competition for the top of the table is tough and also fight for avoiding the relegation is even tougher. This means that the big clubs expect to win everything that they are competing for and smaller clubs to avoid relegation and to try to catch a place for european competitions. But the football is game in which everything is possible, so every season some of the clubs who are expected to fight for the top of the table a in the lower part of it and some of the clubs that are expected to fight for promotion are in the top half. That can put a lot of preassure on the players and especially on the managers. And when the club is underachieving the first one to be blamed is the manager.
Of course the biggest news about managers in La Liga was sacking of Real Madrid manager Lopategui and appointing on his place Solari firstly as temporary and after a few matches as a manager of Real Madrid unitl the end of the season. But altough he manages to win in La Liga matches so far he didn’t improve the game of Real Madrid so far so it’s going to be very hard for him to last to the end of the season. But he isn’t under biggest preassure in the league. Marcelino García Toral the manager of Valencia is perhaps the main candidat to be sacked. Valencia has big goals and definetely they were expecting top half finish and a place that will take them to the Champions League next season. They are currently on 14th place with only 3 wins, even 10 draw and 3 losses and also they are out of the Champions League and will play in Euroa League. When they hire Marcelino García Toral who is known as hard worker very disciplined they were expecting so much more. Francisco Javier Rodríguez Vílchez is the manager of Huesca and also is expected to be sacked soon if the team doesn’t start to collect some points. They are on the last place in the league with only 8 points and only 1 win. They were expecting to fight for promotion but they thought they can fight for it in every game. Asier Garitano is manager of Real Sociedad and also under a threat to be sucked. This season the team is playing poorly mainly at home which isn’t good for fans and the place on the table. They are on 15th place and only got 1 victory at home. Last few seasons they were one of the toughest opponents when they were playing at home. Asier Garitano needs to find a way to immprove the home games if he wants to remain manager of Real Sociedad. Gaizka Garitano is manager of the other big club from that part of Spain Atletic Bilbao, but he is in maybe bigger danger of being sucked than his neighbour. Bilbao is currently on 18th position with only 2 wins. That is devastating knowing that this club in the last few seasons fought for european spots. The manager of Villareal Luis García is also under a lot of preassure. The team plays bad and currently are 17th on the table. They were first in the group in Europa League but that isn’t enough for the fans to be pleased. They are used to watch their club in the top half of the table.
Of course there are also managers that are doing even better than expected and are in no danger of being sucked at the moment. Diego Simeone (Altetico Madrid), Ernesto Valverde (Barcelona) and Pablo Machín (Sevilla) are managers of the top 3 teams in Spain. Their teams also doing great in the european competition so their jobs are safe at the moment. Also the managers of Betis, Alaves, Getafe and Levante, Quique Setién, Abelardo Fernández, José Bordalás and Paco López are doing even better than expected with their clubs so we can say that their jobs are very safe at least to the end of this season.
It will be very interesting at this point of the season to see who will survive and who isn’t under the preassure.
