Mexico World Cup 2018: Stage of Elimination
Mexico Top Team Goalscorer
Why does a country that has 120 million people crazy about football, a huge home championship, a multimillion-dollar TV auditorium, an excellent football school and virtually the same ethnic and geographical origin as Brazil and Argentina always stand at the World Championships?
The Mexican football team won the placement at Mundial in Russia after winning against Panama 1: 0, in the CONCACAF zone of qualification. They finished in first position before the second placed Costa Rica. The Mexicans have so far played fifteen World Cups, and have twice reached the quarterfinals, both times in front of their audience; 1970 and 1986, which is their greatest achievement. The 1986 championship was remembered even after the appearance of "Mexican Waves" at the stands. They has qualified consecutively since 1994, making it one of six countries to do so. The Mexico national team, along with Brazil and Germany, are the only nations to make it out of the group stage over the last six World Cups. Their first participation in the World Cup was in the distant 1930. Then they took part in six successive competitions in 1950, 1954, 1958, 1962, 1966, and 1970. Then in 1978 they were again placed at the World Cup. Then at the 1986 FIFA World Cup. After that at the 1994 championship. Since then they have never missed World cup. So they took part at 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and now in World Cup 2018. They are also the most successful national team from the CONCACAF region. They won ten confederation titles, including seven CONCACAF Gold Cups and three CONCACAF Championships, as well as three NAFC Championships, one North American Nations Cup, and one CONCACAF Cup. Although achieving success, however, at the World Cups they almost never left a special impression. And it's very strange because Mexico has always had great football talents. And this time it is like that. They have big football stars at every position on the pitch. Guillermo Ochoa is their first goalkeeper who was the star of the previous World Cup. Hector Moreno who plays for Roma, Miguel Layún and Diego Reyes from Porto and Carlos Salcedo from Eintracht Frankfurt will provide stability in defense together with other players. Andrés Guardado is the captain of this team. Brothers Giovani dos Santos and Jonathan dos Santos from LA Galaxy will bring in freshness and speed in the middle row together with Héctor Herrera who plays in Porto. But perhaps the best Mexican players at this moment play in the attack. Javier Hernandez who plays for West Ham United in England Premier League is maybe the biggest star and most famous football player from Mexico. In the front row there are also and Carlos Vela from Real Sociedad, Raúl Jiménez from Benfica, Jesus Manuel Corona from Porto and Hirving Lozano from PSV. Of course this is not the whole list of players. There are also a number of players from the domestic championship. Head coach of this team is Juan Carlos Osorio from Colombia.
Football is convincingly the most popular sport in Mexico, with over 324,000 registered and over eight million unregistered players. The stadiums of the elite competition are always full with an average visit of around 25,434, and an average visit of some clubs goes to over 40,000 spectators. It may be the right time for them to achieve some greater success at the World Cup and to bring immense joy to those fans.
