Polska Liga Koszykówki (PLK) known in English as the Polish Basketball League is a professional men's club basketball league in Poland, which also represents the highest class of men’s basketball league games in the country.
PLK boosts of its elite status as only the professional clubs can only participate in this internationally renowned league. These teams are subjected to meeting some crucial criteria before being picked. In furtherance to this, each of these teams must have received their annual license to participate at this level.

In 1947/48, the league started with the name I Liga and it was organized by the Polish Basketball Association. The league started using its current form, beginning from the 1997–98 season, after the Polska Liga Koszykówki SA, PLK SA (the Polish Basketball League Joint-stock company) took control over the league (the PLK SA was created in 1995).
The PLK, which is played under FIBA rules, currently consists of 17 teams (professional basketball's clubs). A PLK season is split into a league stage and a playoffs stage (since 1984–85 seasons). At the end of the league stage, the top eight teams qualify for the playoff stage.
The 2020/2021 PLK Season will commence on August 27, 2020, and the Polish champion will be announced on May 12, 2021 at the latest, the coming year. The competition Polish basketball men's championship has, existed since the year 1928. Śląsk Wrocław is the record holder for most titles, with 17.
PLK Individual awards
At the end of each PLK season, Individual honors are given to the players who have best performances across the season. A selected group of press members vote for the winners of individual awards.

The PLK game pattern
The 2020/2021 season in the Polish basketball league will be inaugurated with a match for the Polish Super Cup, which will be played on August 26 in Kalisz Arena by Stelmet Enea BC Zielona Góra and Anwil Włocławek
The 2020/2021 season, like the previous edition, will consist of two phases: the regular season and the play-off phase. The play-off phase is scheduled to start on March 27, 2021. The transfer window closes on February 26, 2021.
In the regular season, all teams will compete against each other in a peer-to-peer system, in which each club will play 2 league matches with each of the others.
After this part of the competition is over, the 8 best-ranked clubs will start the play-offs. In the quarter-finals, the teams that finished 1st and 8th (1st pair), 2nd and 7th (2nd pair), 3rd and 6th (3rd pair) and 4th and 4th will be played against each other in the regular season. 5. (4th pair).
Promotion to the semi-finals will be the winner of 3 matches in each pair, while the losers will be eliminated from further competition and will be classified in places 5-8 based on their position in the regular season. The winners of the 1st and 4th quarter-final pair and the 2nd and 3rd pair will compete in the semi-finals.
As in the quarter-finals, the club that wins 3 matches will also win in the semi-final steams, the team that takes 16th place in the regular season will lose the right to play in the competition organized by the Polish Basketball League in the 2021/22 season.
