Who wins the Second league in Spain 2019?
Who wins the Segunda Division 2018/19?
The Segunda Division which is commonly known as La Liga 2 is the men's second professional association football division of the Spanish football league. Every season 22 clubs compete to win the title or to get promoted to La Liga. Only three clubs are able to earn a promotion every season. Two clubs get direct promotions by finishing in the top two spots of the table and another club gets the promotion via play-offs. Also, four clubs get relegated to Segunda Division B at the end of the season.
In the season of 2018/19, it will be the 88th season of the Spanish football second division since its establishment. After being relegated from the La Liga last season, Malaga, Las Palmas, and Deportivo La Coruña will play in the Segunda Division 2018/19. On the other hand, Mallorca, Rayo Majadahonda, Elche, Extremadura will play in the Segunda Division after being promoted from Segunda División B last season.
The clubs that could win the Segunda Division in 2018/19 season:
Malaga shocked the world last season after they were relegated from La Liga last season. Since the 2010/11 season, their worst position in La Liga was 11th and they even reached the Quarter Finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2012/13 season. But they finished at the last position after having one of the worst seasons of the club's history. However, it is highly expected that they will turn it around to win the Segunda Division in the 2018/19 season and come back to Spain's top flight.
Deportivo La Coruna:
Deportivo La Coruna is a club with a good history. But they have been struggling in the recent years as they somehow survived relegation from the La Liga in the last few seasons. Last season they finally were relegated to the Segunda Division after finishing 18th on the table. But the last two times they were relegated, they came back to the top flight in the following season. Deportivo La Coruna won the Segunda Division in the 2011/12 season and is a very strong candidate to win it again in the 2018/19 season.
Las Palmas had a disappointing campaign as they finished 19th in La Liga last season. They finished the league with the worst goal difference among all other clubs of the La Liga. But with a few improvements in defense and other positions, they are one of the top contenders to win the Segunda Division in the 2018/19 season.
