England is the birthplace of the beautiful game. But England's national football team's recent performances in the big tournaments were all below per. But the next World Cup at Russia may change the fortunes of the England team. As they are bound to have a good tournament eventually.

Like previous years England squad is stacked with talent. But very few of them can be considered as big names like before. This may be a blessing in disguise for them. Because the hunger to succeed for the national team may be much higher than before. As very few of them have found success with their club team. But that is not due to lack of talent. Moreover, England's young stars from previous years cannot be considered rookies anymore. All of them have been playing relatively well for their respective clubs regularly and gained valuable experience in the process. This regular exposure in the most competitive league in the world should have enhanced not only their technical skills but also their footballing mind. Moreover, most of them are playing under a manager who likes to rotate the squad. And most of the players in the England national team are not the focal point in their respective club team. So most of them are unlikely to face fatigue in the upcoming Fifa World Cup.

Among all these improvements in the England national team compared to the previous ones, they are still facing the same problem in their backroom staff. There is still a lack of a tactically astute manager for the three lions. Their current manager is Gareth Southgate who lacks a great deal of experience. The only silver lining in his appointment is that he doesn't shy away from making changes. So though there is potential for both the squad and the manager, England squad is still unpredictable. And their world cup campaign may go either way.
