Who wins the Workday Charity Open 2020?
Workday Open Championship 2020
COVID 19 impacted most of the golf tournaments in 2020. John Deere Championship is one of those PGF Championships and Workday Charity Open Championship is going to replace it this year. The later will be the one-time replacement of The John Deere Championship. Workday Charity will take place at Muirfield Village Golf Course, Dublin, Ohio. Its prize money is $6.2 million, and as per PGA rule, the winner will get the 18% of the purse.
Muirfield Village Golf Course is a Par-72 golf course, and its length is 6759 meters. The greatest golfer of all time, Jack Nicklaus, designed this golf course and named it Muirfield Village. Muirfield in Scotland is the course where Nicklaus won his first British Open. This course has 36 holes. The President Open is the most significant event held at this golf course.
John Deere Championship was inaugurated in 1971, and Deane Beman won its first two editions. Michael Kim scored the best aggregate score of the tournament in 2018 when he finished four rounds with 257 strokes; 27 under par. Jordon Spieth and Vijay Singh are the toppers of their era who participated in the tournament. Spieth is the first teenager to lift this trophy. Steve Stricker is the only man who won this title three times in a row; he did this in 2009, 2010, and 2011. David Frost, Jorden Spieth, Scott Hoch, and Deane Beman all are two-time champions of John Deere Open.
Since its date is very near to the British Open, top players rarely participate in this tournament. Since the Open Championship is officially cancelled now, there are chances that some elite class players will participate in John Deere Championship. And of course, it will be contested between all those staying in the USA. Total of 156 players are going to participate in the championship, and it is going to be the last event without the crowd.
