The 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup (18 th tournament of the FIBA men's national basketball teams) will be hosted in China. There will be 8 hosting cities

With a record 32 participating teams, the tournament will host 92 games played over 16 days

On August 7th 2015, it was officially announced that China won the bid against the Philippines and will host the upcoming World Cup. (14 votes for China against 7 for Philippines)

Saturday (August 31st) – Sunday (September 15th)

This is the schedule for the China 2019 Worldcup.

-31st August 2019: Group phase

-10th September 2019: Final phase

-15th September 2019: The final

The worldcup’s group stage will expand from 24 to 32 teams.

The top 8 teams, including Japan as the host of the 2020 Summer Olympics (where 2 teams each come from the Americas and Europe, and the top teams from Africa, Asia and Oceania), in this competition will qualify for the men's basketball competition in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo (also the first time when 3x3 basketball will be introduced as an olympic sport).

For the Europe region,  the 2019 Fiba worldcup qualifications began in the summer of 2017. Contrary to previous years, no teams were automatically placed into the FIBA Worldcup, so all FIBA Europe states have to participate in qualifications.

China as hosted nation is automatically qualified for the 2019 tournament.

The first round of the Americas, Asia/Oceania and Africa qualifiers will feature 16 teams each, where Europe will have 32 teams. Division A teams will be split in groups of four, to be held in a home-and-away round-robin. The top three teams in each groups will advance to round two, and last placed teams will play the best Division B teams to hopefully qualify for the next season's Division A.

In second round of the World Cup qualifiers, the teams will be split in groups of six, totaling four groups in Europe and two in the other qualifiers. Teams will carry over the points from round one, and face another three teams again in a home-and-away round-robin. The best teams from each group will quality for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

The favorite național team to win the world Cup is definitely USA. We need to prepare for a lot of amazing games with some surprises.
