Who wins Football League I 2020/2021?
Who will win the 2020/21 EFL League One?
The 2019/20 EFL League One season saw Coventry City win the title and gain promotion to the EFL Championship with Rotherham United and Wycombe Wanderers following them through automatic promotion and playoffs. Charlton Athletic, Wigan Athletic and Hull City were all relegated from the Championship and will all be pushing for promotion in the 2020/21 League One campaign.
After 22 games, Hull City sit at the top of the table on 42 points following 13 wins and 3 draws. Reece Burke, George Honeyman and loanees Gavin Whyte and Dan Crowley are all some of the best players in the league and will lead the charge to the League One title under manager Grant McCann.
Lincoln City also sat on 42 points, tied with Hull City despite playing 1 fewer game. They’ll want to believe their game in hand puts them as the favourite to gain promotion through winning the title. Captain Liam Bridcutt, Tayo Edun and Manchester City loanee Morgan Rogers are all going to push for the League One title under Michael Appleton and subsequently, gain promotion to the Championship.
Sitting one point behind Hull City and Lincoln City are Portsmouth FC in third place after 21 games. Manager Kenny Jackett has top players at his disposal such as Michael Jacobs, Rasmus Nicolaisen and captain Tom Naylor.
Fourth placed Doncaster Rovers and fifth place Peterborough United both sit on 39 points each after 20 and 21 games respectively. Charlton Athletic make up the final playoff spot in sixth place on 36 points after 23 games. Each of these teams will believe they still have a shot at the title if one of the top teams slip off over the coming weeks. The January transfer window will allow teams to strengthen their squads in order to finalise their title challenging squads.
