UEFA Euro 2020 Qualifying
Group J

The UEFA European Championship is a football competition contested by the senior men's national teams. Only the members of the UEFA take participation in the competition to determine the continental champion of Europe. The current champion of Europe is Portugal, after they won the Euro 2016 by beating France in the final.
The Euro 2020 will be the 16th European Championship and it is scheduled to be held in 12 cities in 12 European countries from 12 June to 12 July 2020. This edition will be the first-time ever that VAR (Video Assistant Referee) will be used in a European Championship. The winner of the tournament earns the right to compete in FIFA Confederations Cup 2021. A total of 55-teams will be playing the qualifying round and 24 of them will be eligible to play in the finals. The teams have been divided into 10 groups of five or six teams in each of them.

Group J consists of a former World Champions and two former European Champions. The teams of this group are:

Head coach: Roberto Mancini
Captain: Giorgio Chiellini

Italy is one of the most successful teams in football history having won four FIFA World Cups. They even won a European Championship in 1968. Italy shocked the world when they failed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2018. They played in League A of the UEFA Nations League and finished 2nd in the group and failed the opportunity to play in the semi-finals. However, they are highly expected not to let the country down again and qualify to the finals of the Euro 2020.

Bosnia and Herzegovina
Head coach: Robert Prosinečki
Captain: Edin Džeko

Bosnia and Herzegovina has played only once in a major tournament which is the FIFA World Cup in 2014. Their captain is their most capped player and top scorer of the country’s history, Edin Dzeko. Bosnia and Herzegovina played in the League B of the UEFA Nations League 2018/19, where they performed brilliantly, which led them being promoted to the League A. They are currently ranked 34th in the FIFA World Rankings.

Head coach: Markku Kanerva
Captain: Tim Sparv

Finland has never made an appearance in the FIFA World Cup or the European Championship. However, they are in winning ways as they have been promoted to League B from League C in the UEFA Nations League 2018/19 after having won 4 out 6 matches. Finland could finally get to play in the finals of the Euros in 2020. They are currently ranked 58th in the FIFA World Rankings.

Head coach: Angelos Anastasiadis
Captain: Vasilis Torosidis

Greece has made 3 appearances in the finals of the World Cup and 4 appearances in the Euros. They even won the Euro 2004 after beating Luis Figo’s Portugal in the final of the tournament. However, they failed to qualify for the last World Cup in 2018 and the Euro Cup in 2016. They played in League C of the UEFA Nations League 2018/19 and failed to get promoted. They are currently ranked 43rd in the FIFA World Rankings.

Head coach: Armen Gyulbudaghyants
Captain: Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Since being divided from the Soviet Union, Armenia has never qualified for the World Cup or the Euro Cup in their history. They played in League D of the UEFA Nations League 2018/19 where they failed to get promotion after finishing 2nd in their group. Arsenal’s Henrikh Mkhitaryan is the captain and the all-time top scorer of the country. They are currently ranked 101st in the FIFA World Rankings.

Head coach: Rene Pauritsch
Captain: Michele Polverino

Liechtenstein has also never qualified for a World Cup or the Euro Cup in their history. The national team was put in the League D of the UEFA Nations League 2018/19 because of their poor performances, but they finished last in their group after winning only 1 match out of 6. They are currently ranked 181st in the FIFA World Rankings.
