Ice Hockey Olympics 2022 odds
The 2022 Ice Hockey Winter Olympics has been scheduled to take place from February 9 and February 20, 2022, in Beijing, China. The events will be held at two venues in the Beijing cluster this year.
However, the competition is still a few months away, and the process of forming squads has already started. Eleven of the twelve national teams have already revealed the names of their three players. In their first preliminary round games of the men's ice hockey competition, the United States will face China while Canada will face Germany.
The Olympic semifinals are expected to be held on February 17 and 18, followed by the bronze and gold medal games on February 19.
The tournament will include 12 nations, with eight qualifying via the IIHF World Ranking, the host China, and three qualifying via qualifying tournaments. The format will be the same as the last three Olympics: three groups of four will compete in three matches to establish seeding, after which each team will play every other team in their group in four rounds of elimination matches. Each group winner, as well as the highest-ranked team from the remaining teams, accepts a bye into the second round. To proceed to the quarter-final stage, the remaining eight teams must play an elimination qualification match. The winners of each quarter-final went to the semi-finals, where they competed for the gold medal and the losers for the bronze. Because the 2020 Men's Ice Hockey Global Championships were canceled, the groups were formed on April 24, 2020, based on the IIHF world standings, with seeding counting for ranking points in unplayed competitions.
Following the 2019 Men's Ice Hockey World Championships, the IIHF World Ranking decided qualification for the men's competition at the 2022 Winter Olympics. The top eight players will compete alongside the hosts and three qualifiers.
