Final in Africa Cup of Nations 2019

After 29 years Algeria returns to the finals of the continental championship. Algeria and Senegal will play in the final of the African Nations Cup on Friday, July 19. Senegal beat Tunisia 1: 0 in the first semi-final, while Algeria won 2-1 against Nigeria. The Algeria’s hero is Manchester City player Mehrez R., who scored amazing goal in the 95th minute from a free-kick for victory. Algeria led from the 40th minute with the goal scored William Troost-Ekong, and it with was the half time result. Odion Ighalo equalized from the penalty in 72 minutes, and when it seemed that the match would go into extra time, Mahrez scored in the 95th minute. This is first final for Algeria since 1990, when they won the only title on home soil. Once they were second and twice they were third and fourth.

Earlier on Sunday, in the first semifinal of the final tournament in Egypt, Senegalians reached the first final in history by a clumsy own goal by Dylan Bronn in the 100th  minute of extra time, which was "aided" by goalkeeper Mouez Hassen. He failed to tamper with a sharp center, and he "assisted" him for the Senegal’s first final.

For Senegal this is the second entry into the finals of the African Championship, but they are still waiting for the first title. 17 years ago they lost the final duel against Cameroon after the penalty shooting.

This year's African Cup of Nations started on June 21 and will finish on July 19, the matches are played in six cities in Egypt. The hosts are the most successful team when it comes to the number of trophies won at the continental championships, which have been held since 1957. Namely, the Egyptian football team has seven titles, while Cameroon has five trophies won. Ghana has four times won the African Cup of Nations, Nigeria three times, Ivory Coast and Democratic Republic of Congo with two titles each, and eight other countries (Zambia, Tunisia, Sudan, Algeria, Ethiopia, Morocco, South Africa, Congo) celebrated only once. The previous African championship was held in 2017, the host was Gabon, and a gold medal went to Cameroon after the triumph over Egypt (2: 1). Interesting, after the forthcoming one in Egypt, the next will be held in 2021 in Cameroon.

The 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Final will be held at the Cairo International Stadium in Cairo, Egypt, on 19 July 2019. The African nations showed to the world that they know how to play football on high level and it is excepted for this final to be the culmination of the great championship. The final will be played on The Cairo International Stadium , previously  known as Nasser Stadium,  and its stadium with an all-seated capacity of 75,000.
