Next Brighton manager
Brighton next manager after Roberto De Zerbi
Roberto De Zerbi - manager of Brighton
Brighton played great football at the start of the Premier League season and under the command of Graham Potter, after the 6th round, they reached a high fourth position in the table. However, a set of circumstances occurred that few expected. Thomas Tuchel was fired from Chelsea, the London club sent an offer to Potter that was not rejected. Brighton was left without a manager, and Roberto De Zerbi emerged as the first choice for Potter's replacement.
The promising Italian expert has been out of work since the start of the war in Ukraine, for which he decided to leave Shakhtar less than a year after he sat on the bench of the famous club. It seems that it was only a matter of time before someone decided to hire him, since at the time in Sassuolo, forcing the 4-2-3-1 system, his team played extremely attractive and attacking football. From the summer of 2018 to May 2021, he accelerated the game of Sassuolo, with whom he achieved a record of 43 wins, 36 draws, and 41 losses in 120 matches.
The Italian sat on the bench of the English club at the end of September and had a "hot welcome " in the form of the first match where he met Liverpool at Anfield. No matter how much of a crisis the "Reds" are in, it will never be easy to visit Liverpool, even these days.
De Zerbi certainly got the most out of his players at that moment. His team did even lead 0-2, but you know what they say, that's the most dangerous result. In the end, a well-deserved draw against Jurgen Klopp's team. Everything seemed to pick up where Graham Potter left off. It seemed that the team from the south got exactly what it was looking for in a new coach, but the results in the first five matches do not say so. This was followed by two defeats against Tottenham and Brentford, a draw with Nottingham Forest, and finally a defeat against Manchester City. So Roberto won only two points in the first five matches.
De Zerbi did not register the desired results, but he showed what gives hope that those results will come. The play in each of the five matches was at a high level. It seemed that Brighton was still the same team as they were under the leadership of Potter.
Brighton is not in danger of relegation and that is in his favor. His task will be to secure a place in the middle of the table. We believe that both fans and management would be satisfied with a finish between 15th and 10th place.
There is definitely room for corrections in the winter transfer window. A real, classy, striker would mean a lot to his team as the Italian promotes real attacking football, which is refreshing considering he manages a limited team like Brighton.
