After retiring at Xerez, Moreno was made assistant manager at the club before being made full time manager in December 2011. In his first season at the club, he guided the team to a 14th placed finish. In November 2013, Moreno was appointed the new manager of Spanish third division side Gimnàstic de Tarragona after replacing the previous manager Santi Castillejo. In the 2014-15 season, Moreno led the team to promotion to the Segunda División and then renewed his contract for another year. The following year, Moreno and Gimnàstic de Tarragona finished third in their first season in the Segunda División, however, Moreno stepped down in December of the same year.

In June 2017, Spanish third division side Mallorca appointed Vicente Moreno. However, in his first season at the club, Moreno guided the club to promotion via the playoffs to the Segunda División. In the following season, Moreno took the club to a 5th place finish and guided them to a second consecutive promotion under his management to the 2019-20 La Liga. Next season, the club will likely be in a relegation battle after spending only £4.5m in the current transfer window. Moreno is an extremely talented manager and will relish the opportunity to manage in the Spanish top flight next season.
